There are many stories of seafarers, but pirates are considered legends and their stories have been recounted and more and more decorated over the centuries. Many pirates were made true heroes and their lives romanticized. Or they were portrayed as particularly cruel and creepy showers were created. Whoever sows winds will reap storms, (Old Testament, Hosea, chapter 8, verse 7) means pirates, whoever will stand against them will be repaid with full force.
